High pattern stiffness and a rigid design help provide strong lateral grip in the dry, and the optimized notches enhance dry braking performance. The inboard side of the tread features a wider circumferential groove and greater pitch count for enhanced wet traction, while the deep, straight channels help evacuate water from the contact patch to improve hydroplaning resistance. The internal construction of the Pilot Sport 4 SUV consists of a high-density, polyester casing that provides a robust and durable structure and supports two wide, steel belts. An aramid and nylon hybrid reinforcement ply enhances driving precision and high-speed capability.
